Controlling for learning effects in dementia data. Lead Investigator: Rajesh Talluri Institution : University of Mississippi Medical Center E-Mail : rtalluri@umc.edu Proposal ID : 1238 Proposal Description: In dementia research, cognitive function and cognitive decline measures are widely used to understand factors affecting dementia and to evaluate novel treatments to improve cognitive function. As the individual is given the cognition test repeatedly the individual learns and adjusts to the test. This effect called the practice or learning effect confounds the true cognition effect of the individual. Aim 1: We propose a novel model that estimates learning effects based on the data available. We want estimate potential learning effects in the NACC cohorts. Aim 2: Incorporate this model into longitudinal mixed model framework to analyse longitudinal data collected by the cohorts accurately.
